Hazel-Marie.com is the blog of Hazel Martin, “Creating a Special New Life.”
Let’s examine those words. Creating means “to cause to come into being something unique, to evolve one’s own imagination.” Yes, with hope and courage this will be true. Special means “distinguished from what is ordinary or usual.” I am discovering everyday that this is definitely my new journey.
This has occurred because I’ve had a life-altering change. Nevertheless, it can be an experience for anyone and everyone. I have been a caregiver for over two years, full time complete care for the past year. My husband, Tom, passed away in April. I’ve discovered the operative words are: choice and decision.
Everyday is presenting choices about finances, household dilemmas, possessions, insurance, banking, food, attorneys, and then, you make a decision.
I retired as an Registered Nurse in 1997 and moved to Sun City Center, Florida. Our community is a real gem with over 200 clubs, many volunteer opportunities, and to be as active as you wish. I am fortunate to have many interests, and Sun City Center was ideal. I love the Registered Nurse Club, gardening, music, sewing, the beach, being outdoors, ceramics, my church, painting… this place was ideal. This has all been on hold for a long time.
Fortunately, our family — two wonderful sons, two beautiful daughters, and fantastic grandchildren — have been my support and love. I’m discovering it is taking real courage to accept some of the decisions I’m having to make. Wow!
Nevertheless, I now find myself examining this new world and yes, creating a special new life. I would love to share this new life with you. Indeed, join me wherever you are on your life’s journey.
